Apache Rhyolite from New Mexico is a distinct material which exhibits varying shades of red, pink and mauve with dark mahogany dendrites that create fantastic picture scenes. Much of the material can be quite soft and difficult to polish but we have some pieces available that are so hard they could easily be mistake for a porcelain jasper. There is no denying this is a rhyolite as I have personally done much work with this stone and as a fair warning it will turn your oil/water bright red! It is very much worth the mess as finished pieces are unlike any other material in the world. Aside from its obvious beauty Apache Rhyolite is also quite rare.
