Oh man I just LOVE red horn coral! This amazing agatized fossil material is over 300 million years old and comes from the top of a mountain in Utah. When fossilized, the ancient corals organic material was replaced by silica and other ground-rich minerals that produced the brilliant pinks and reds that we see in these specimens. Be sure to take notice of the little "tails" still visible in some of the specimens we have available. Red horn coral is no longer being actively mined and quality specimens at reasonable prices can be hard to find.
